Prevent firefox from updating
Open the folder that represents the profile you would like to edit. It is usually a bunch of characters, followed by “.default”. so I will add user_pref("app.update.enabled", false); is it somewhere documented that the absence of this entry is a default true?
it was not clear to me that this entry simply does not exist in some cases.
You will have the choice of being alerted when an update is available, or never checking for updates. Step 2: Click the Open menu button at the top-right corner of the window. Step 4: Click the Advanced tab at the left side of the window. Step 6: Select your preferred update setting from the options listed under Firefox updates. You do not need to click a save button, or anything else.
But you may have a situation where automatically installing Firefox updates is not preferable.

However, there are cases when the latest is not the greatest.
In those cases, one should still be mindful of the potential implications un-patched software has and be on the lookout for changes which address functionality issues.
